The history of the international Segafredo Zanetti concern is linked to the family of Mr Massimo Zanetti, who established this company in Italy in 1973. From the first coffee-roasting plant in Bologna, Segafredo Zanetti gradually expanded into an international concern with 27 subsidiary distribution companies, not just in Europe, but also in South America, the USA and Australia with 70,000 gastronomic clients. It has also started other business activities, which nevertheless always have one theme in common: coffee. The Segafredo Zanetti group includes La San Marco, the leading Italian manufacturer of espresso makers, the Brazilian company Nossa Senhora da Guia Sociadade Exportadora de Cafe Ltda, which is engaged in the cultivation and initial processing of coffee, the Swiss firm Cofiroasters S.A., which deals in green coffee, and Segafredo Espresso Worldwide which administers an international franchising system of more than 350 Segafredo Espresso cafés all over the world. From this list of activities, it is obvious that, unlike any other coffee company, the Segafredo Zanetti concern embodies a unique combination of all the production stages that influence the quality of the end result: from cultivation on plantations, initial processing, purchasing and selecting high-quality coffee blends, roasting in coffee-roasting plants while using state-of-the-art technology, right down to final processing in the customer’s coffeemaker.
